LabMastis® (S.A & S.U)
A new diagnostic tool for managing bovine mastitis by detecting Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus uberis in milk and the environment.
Innovation
We utilize the high specificity of phage capture proteins to create rapid and specific pathogen bacteria detection tools.
Bovine mastitis is a disease that affects approximately 40% in Europe, resulting in tens of billions of euros in economic losses for farmers. (source: INRAE)
Three bacteria are responsible for more than 60% of mastitis cases: Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Streptococcus uberis. The rapid etiological detection of these bacteria makes it possible to have a precise action plan for the management of the entire herd
LabMastis® S.A is a specific detection kit for bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. This kit is available for veterinarians and laboratories. The LabMastis® S.U kit, designed to detect Streptococcus uberis, will be available for purchase in 2025.
- VETOPHAGE offers a rapid, specific, easy-to-use detection tool (a strip test) that does not require the purchase of expensive machines.
- No need to send samples to the laboratory anymore; this saves time, reduces costs, and lessens stress for farmers.
- LabMastis® enables the detection of bacteria in subclinical infections, making it the ideal test for eradicating the bacteria from herds.
Case study
LabMastis® S.A is a highly effective tool for managing the S. aureus bacteria.
LabMastis® S.A was field-tested for several months by an independent laboratory. A second study was conducted simultaneously through a network of veterinarians across France. LabMastis® is primarily a tool for managing S. aureus bacteria in milk, but other applications were discovered during these tests, as LabMastis® S.A also works on various environmental samples with a very high detection level.
- Able to detect bacteria at low quantities
- High specificity
- Easy and simple result interpretation.
- Result interpretation in just a few minutes from 15 hours of incubation.
- Simplicity (no need to send samples, no need to purchase equipment to interpret results, time-saving).
